Rome Chance A Reapers MC Novella edition by Joanna Wylde Romance eBooks
I don't think you will never catch me complaining about getting a new release in the Reapers MC series/world and even this standalone novella had me grinning and enjoying the story I got.Rome's Chance is the 6.6 installment in the series and the author set it 8 years after the events of Reaper's Fire, the last novel-length in the series. As promised, the story can standalone, but long time fans do get a little page time with something of a follow up for the main characters of Reaper's Fire.
In essence this is the story of a romance that was put on pause and gets the second chance to resume. Rome and Randi got to go on one date before a huge fire devastated the town and Randi's family moved away. She got on with her life and he, his. Both have sweet memories of their one date and are left wondering if she/he was the one that got away. Randi comes back for her ten year class reunion and a chance to visit with her mom and youngest brother and sister who had moved back. It doesn't go as planned. Her mom is still not stepping up any more than she did in the past so her younger siblings are barely getting by. And, there's Rome. He's hotter than ever and wearing an MC vest. She doesn't know what to think about that side of his life or if it even matters since she's not planning to touch that. But, the determine look in Rome's eyes and his smile that makes her knee's weak makes her forget why he's a bad idea.
I enjoyed getting Randi and Rome's stories. They are both good people and both tend to like it simple and uncomplicated even if Randi overthinks things. She's had to step up and be the adult since she was a young teen because her mom's been messed up for a while so it makes her wary of taking chances or letting herself have more than something temporary for herself.
Rome knows he has to convince her that he's not temporary and he's standing by her, family troubles and all, after their disastrous first date. He's determined, but he leaves Randi the choice every time she starts to feel pressured. His patience with her was amazing because he wanted something more than to just be her good time with her which was what she kept trying to make him. He's had his own past pain. He likes to have fun, but he's settled with a career that fulfills and he loves, he has an extended family of brothers with his MC, and now he wants a relationship with Randi who was always the only woman who did it for him even if it was fleeting in the past.
Rome's Chance could have been longer and I would not have complained one iota. I loved the wry down to earth tone, the spice, and the characters and relationship. This one is part of a biker romance series, but that part is minor and the relationship is front and center. It would make a great gateway book to the biker romances for newbies and is a fabulous choice for those who want a mild biker romance.

Rome Chance A Reapers MC Novella edition by Joanna Wylde Romance eBooks Reviews
Rome & Randi met each other as young adults in Reaper’s Fire. (It’s not necessary to read that book before this novella.) They had only been on one single date when they were separated by a summer of wildfires. Years later they meet up and Rome remembers the young girl Randi was and is ready to grab his second chance. Randi sees the state that her youngest brother & sister are living in and confronts their mom over her neglect. What was supposed to be a fun reunion weekend turns into life changing events & decisions.
There is a whole lot of good with this story, and there is some bad. The bad, too short. It could be 500 pages and it would still be bad. Joanna Wylde has such a gift in writing, it's smooth and she captures the attention of her readers so quickly. I stumbled upon her years ago and I have never been disappointed in any of her books. I don't expect I ever will be either.
AMAZING !!! loved this story , joanna never really disappoints . I do wish it was longer. But i loved it . At first when she announced this book release , i was like i cant remember who Rome was , so i did a complete re-read of the series (which were just as good as the first time i read them) ... However i did cry because something hit close to home during this story... But i recommend reading it.
I really loved this book. It was perfect for the mood I was in and the happy/funny romance I was looking for. Seriously sexy. High heat index. Rome is a big ole tease lol. There was some heavy subject matter in the way of family drama and dynamics. One of the things I love about MC Romance is that it typically provides a great family, family bonding, and a group who come together as a chosen family. This book really provides that extended family feel. Great story! Excellent follow up to the last book in the series and I LOVED BEING WITH TINKER AGAIN.
It’s been awhile since I got my hands on a Joanna Wylde book so I ate up Rome and Randi’s story. We first met them in Reapers Fire and fate seemed to get in the way of their relationship. Wild fires and life kept them from getting to know each other. No here they are meetings again and the chemistry is still strong. I loved how Rome romanced Randi and worked her to get her to understand he wanted her! The ending was awesome loved how the author brought it all together and how both characters grew as people. Another great read from this author.
So Rome is really really interesting. It seems like he should've had a full book. I could not understand what he saw in her. She was not nice to him. Also the Reapers were mentioned but that's it. No clubhouse, no multi bike rides, no biker action. Totally bummed. This book gets three stars for Rome only. The rest was lame.
I have read and loved every one of Joanna's books but this was just not up to her standards. Even tho it was a novella it could've still been compelling but it wasn't. Rome had no flare and labeling this a Reapers MC Novella was a come on. There was no interaction with the guys and only mere mentions of Gage. Sad and misleading.
I found the heroine, Randi annoying and childish and if she used the word "adulting" one more time I was going to scream. Yes, at 27 you're an adult, (I had children of my own already) get over it! And then the predictability was excruciating. SPOILER ALERT... Sex after the mother died, how cliche...And the typos and POV shifts screamed novice writer or no proofreading. Not what you would expect from someone of Joanna's caliber or from the big publishing house that printed it. I just hope she's not going the route of many popular authors (James Patterson, to name one) depending on past successes and delivering lazy writing. Please let the old Joanna come back.
